I know it has been FOREVER since I last posted a pattern. Life always seems to manage to get in the way of crochet.

Who doesn't love horses? Here is my take on the classic Hobby Horse that you can make for the horse lover in your life.
Supplies:
5.00 mm crochet hook
Tan worsetd weight yarn
Black worsted weight yarn
*colors are based on Red Heart Super Saver Yarn

ch --- chain
sc --- single-crochet
st/sts --- stitch/stitches
sc2tog --- single-crochet 2 stitches together

~Pattern~
Body:
Rnd 1: with the Tan yarn, ch 2; 6sc in second ch from hook - 6sts
Rnd 2: 2sc in each st around - 12sts
Rnd 3: 2sc in first st, 1sc in next st; repeat to end - 18sts
Rnd 4: 2sc in first st, 1sc in next 2sts; repeat to end - 24sts
Rnd 5: 2sc in firsts st, 1sc in next 3sts; repeat to end - 30sts
Rnds 6-17: 1sc in each st around - 30sts
Rnd 18: sc2tog, 1sc in next 3sts; repeat to end - 24sts
Rnd 19: sc2tog, 1sc in next 2sts; repeat to end - 18sts
Begin firmly stuffing the Body.
Rnd 20: sc2tog, 1sc in next st; repeat to end - 12sts
Rnd 21: sc2tog; repeat to end - 6sts
Fasten off; leave a tail for sewing.
Finish firmly stuffing the body.
Using the tail of yarn, sew the opening in the Body closed.
Head & Neck:
Rnd 1: with the Tan yarn, ch 2; 6sc in second ch from hook - 6sts
Rnd 2: 2sc in each st around - 12sts
Rnd 3: 2sc in firts st, 1sc in next st; repeat to end - 18sts
Rnd 4: 2sc in first st, 1sc in next 2sts; repeat to end - 24sts
Rnd 5: 2sc in first st, 1sc in next 3sts; repeat to end - 30sts
Rnds 6-8: 1sc in each st around - 30sts
Rnd 9: sc2tog, 1sc in next 3sts; repeat to end - 24sts
Rnd 10: sc2tog, 1sc in next 2sts; repeat to end - 18sts
Rnd 11: sc2tog, 1sc in next st; repeat to end - 12sts

Muzzle:
Rnd 1: with the Tan yarn, ch 2; 4sc in second ch from hook - 4sts
Rnd 2: 2sc in each st around - 8sts
Rnds 3-7: 1sc in each st around - 12sts
Fasten off; leave a long tail for sewing.
Legs (make 4):
Rnd 1: with the Black yarn, ch 2; 5sc in second ch from hook - 5sts
Rnd 2: 2sc in each st around - 10sts
Rnd 3: 2sc in foirst st, 1sc in next st; repeat to end - 15sts
Rnd 4: working in the ftlps only, 1sc in each ftlp around - 15sts
Rnd 5: going through both loops, 1sc in each st around - 15sts
Rnd 6: 1sc in first 5sts, sc2tog, sc2tog, 1sc in last 5sts - 13sts
Change to Tan yarn; fasten off the Black.
Rnds 7-15: 1sc in each st around - 13sts
Fasten off; leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
Firmly stuff the Head and Neck.
Position on the top of the Body and sew in place.
Firmly stuff the Muzzle.
Position the Muzzle near the center bottom of the Head; sew in place.
Firmly stuff the Legs.
Position on the bottom of the Body; sew in place.
Mane:
With the Black yarn, ch 18: ch 1, turn
Row 1: 1sc in each ch across
DO NOT turn.
Row 2: ch 1, working along the other side of the starting chain, 1sc in each ch across - 18sts
Slp st in the first st or Row 1.
Fasten off; leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the finished piece to the top of the Head, along the Back of the Head, and down the Neck.
Cut three lengths of Black yarn measuring about 4-inches long.
Holding the strands together run them through each stitch of the base peice and attach them like fringe.
Finish working until every stitch has been filled.
* The total number of cut strands you will need depends on how thick/thin you want the Mane to be.
When finished, trim the ends of the yarn to style the Mane any way you wish.
Tie off and trim all loose threads.
Finishing:
Cut five lengths of yarn measuring 7-inches long.
Holding the strands of yarn together, attach them like fringe to the back of the Body to create a Tail; trim the ends of the yarn to the desired length.
Using the Black yarn, stitch one eye onto either side of the Horse's Head.
Tie off and trim all loose threads.
